“Cambodia continues to respect and implement strictly the ceasefire agreement reached with Thailand on July 28,” the spokesperson stated, and reaffirmed that the Kingdom’s armed forces remain strong, vigilant, and fully committed to their duties.
Socheata said, through talks and negotiations, that the barbed wire illegally placed by Thai troops in the Anseh area on Monday was dismantled on Tuesday afternoon, and the accompanying Thai machinery ceased operations.
“The Anseh area is under Cambodian sovereignty and has remained under the control of its armed forces since the ceasefire went into effect,” the lieutenant general underscored, as quoted by the AKP news agency.
Socheata denounced at a press briefing on Tuesday the intensification of activities by the Thai armed forces in Anseh, where they entered with heavy machinery, including bulldozers, laid barbed wire, and began digging trenches.
Chum Sounry, Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), stated this Wednesday that the action announced by the Thai government against his country only seeks to cover up its hostile policy.
