The spokesman for that relief agency, Mahmoud Basal, emphasized that its aid teams are facing intense pressure as a result of the escalating army attacks; according to official data, 138 deaths and more than 770 injuries were reported to the coastal enclave’s healthcare centers this Wednesday alone.
Basal, who accused Tel Aviv of imposing “a systematic policy of mass murder and intensive attacks against civilians” in Gaza, noted that the escalation comes amid the blockade imposed on the Strip since last March.
The official cited as an example the situation in the north, where, he said, hospitals are completely overwhelmed by wounded people, and medical teams are exhausted.
Faced with this situation, he urged the international community to take urgent measures to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and to oppose the continued violations against defenseless civilians.
According to official data, more than 61,000 people have died in the territory since the beginning of the aggression in October 2023, while the number of wounded exceeds 151,000.
The director of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza, Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, also denounced the situation, revealing that anesthesia supplies will run out in 48 hours in the enclave, in addition to a serious shortage of blood units, and that the complex lacks a sufficient number of operating rooms, leading to the deaths of many wounded.
