Paraison replaced Rameau Normil, who was dismissed by the Government due to his poor performance in fighting gangs in the Caribbean nation.
He said, “I will restore security across the country, arrest gang leaders, and bring them to justice.”
Paraison spoke decisively before Laurent Saint-Cyr, president of the Transitional Presidential Council, Prime Minister Alix Didier, and several ministers.
Although the new police chief publicly threatened gang members at his appointment ceremony, he stated that he was accepting the position at one of the most complex moments in Haiti’s security history.
