In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, New Delhi expressed its readiness to support efforts towards that goal and open prospects for peace as promised by the upcoming meeting.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said repeatedly: «This is not an era of war», the statement says.
Putin and Trump agreed to meet to negotiate a ceasefire in the war in Ukraine.
Russian presidential advisor, Yuri Ushakov, confirmed the meeting and thought it perfectly logical for a delegation from his country to cross the Bering Strait for the important summit because, he said, Russia and the United States are neighbouring countries that share a border.
According to the Slavic country’s senior official, the two leaders will focus on exploring options for a long-term solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
Ushakov also recalled that the economic interests of the two countries intersect in Alaska and the Arctic, and there are prospects for the implementation of large-scale and mutually beneficial projects.
He also said that another Summit is possible in the future, but on the Russian territory.
