The National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology seized batches of the anesthetic and found that two of them were contaminated, explained the lawyer in a conversation with Radio con Vos, hence the possibility of new deaths.
“One had a high circulation and was widely applied. The other one was not administered any dose because it had just been out on the street”, Kreplak indicated.
The investigation, in charge of Federal Court No. 3 of La Plata, estimates that about 45 thousand ampoules of one of the batches contaminated with multiresistant bacteria were applied. However, the lawyer assured that the fentanyl in circulation today is free of such contamination.
Such facts are linked to the product marketed by the laboratories HLB Pharma Group S.A. and Ramallo S.A., which has generated concern in the clinical field in a case that “is extensive, complex and with multiple edges”, the judge described.
“This did not reach a ceiling. Unfortunately, as the days go by, the number of deaths could increase. From the beginning we thought there were more than 100 victims,” he said. Justice points out that around 45 thousand ampoules were applied from one of the lots with a problem.
