Cubans advance in Asuncion Pan American judo

Asuncion, Aug 12 (Prensa Latina) The first Cubans to compete today at the Panamerican Junior Games in Asunción 2025 won their duels and advanced to the next rounds of the Paraguayan league.

Cuban Naysdel Cardoso of the 90-kilogram (kg) division advanced to the semifinals at the 2025 Pan American Junior Games in Asunción.

Cardoso defeated by ippon the Venezuelan Samuel Corzo in a fight corresponding to the quarter-finals of the Pan American event and will face Derik Rodríguez from Puerto Rico in search of the passage to the final.

In the 78 kg female Lisrialis González beat Nahyr Angelacio of Paraguay to move to the semifinals, while Dayanara Curbelo achieved the same goal by defeating for no presentation the Costa Rican Arianna Chávez.

Gonzalez and Curbelo will compete with the Brazilian Dandara Camillo and the Canadian Alisa Kofman, respectively, looking for a place in the final of their respective categories.

Jonathan Delgado (+100kg) and Zail Ramírez ( 100 kg) will also compete for Cuba.
