“The members of the association are dedicated to sowing division in the Russian-speaking community of Germany with the aim of encouraging activities contrary to the interests of Russia,” highlights the note from the Prosecutor’s Office released this Thursday to the press.

Demokrati.Ja organizes large-scale public anti-Russian events in Germany, disseminates materials that discredit the domestic and foreign policy of the Russian government, its electoral system and the performance of its Armed Forces during the special military operation in Ukraine, The public prosecutor’s office argues.

According to the prosecution, the NGO promotes Russophobia, helps to create a ‘totalitarian’ image of Russia abroad and demands the imposition against it of a trade embargo and an oil and gas embargo, among other measures, while urging the international community to provide more military support to Ukraine.

The organization also promotes a separatist ideology and incitement to inter-ethnic hatred, distortion of historical memory and undercutting of the Soviet people’s feat in Victory over Nazism during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

Demokrati-Ja’s partners include the German organisations Solidarus e.V. and Freies Russland Berlin, as well as the US fund Free Russia Foundation, whose activities have already been declared undesirable in Russia.

An entity declared undesirable loses the right to create structures and legal entities in Russia, implement projects and disseminate information.

Russian citizens, Russian legal persons and stateless persons permanently resident in Russia are prohibited from participating in the activities of entities declared undesirable.
