Indonesia boosts economic growth through tourism

Jakarta, Aug 14 (Prensa Latina) Indonesia's Ministries of Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Tourism agreed on collaborating to strengthen local businesses in tourist areas, boost the economy, and create jobs.

The Minister of SMEs, Maman Abdurrahman, highlighted the potential of the tourism sector as an engine of growth for small and medium-sized businesses.

He also noted that almost all regions of the country have assets that can be leveraged for economic development, justifying a multiplier effect on job creation and the revitalization of regional economies.

The ministries signed a memorandum of understanding to synchronize tourism policies and SME support by preparing a roadmap linked to national tourism development.

The goal of this agreement is to increase the competitiveness of entrepreneurs in these key areas.

The official expressed optimism and projected that tourism will breed about 25.6 million jobs through the opportunities offered by the more than 6,000 tourist villages spread across Indonesia.
