Fidel Castro in Seychelles photo exhibition, life and work extoled

Victoria, Aug 18 (Prensa Latina) Today Life newspaper dedicates extensive spaces to the importance for the world of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, according to reports by local media.

At the opening of the photo exhibition by artist Alex Castro on the Cuban leader, the island’s Ambassador to Seychelles, Martha Hernandez Caneiro, stated that Fidel was a figure whose influence went beyond Cuba’s borders, supported anti-colonialism, was a staunch opponent of imperialism, and a promoter of the sovereignty and dignity of oppressed nations globally.

The Cuban diplomat also explained his fundamental role in establishing the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Group of 77 (G77), which united developing nations seeking an independent voice in global affairs.

A central element of Fidel’s philosophy was the idea that the size of a country does not determine its influence; rather, what truly matters is the size of its ideas, Hernandez Caneiro emphasized.

The ambassador added that this belief inspired Cuba’s commitment to helping small developing nations through education, healthcare, and cultural exchange, regardless of the challenges Cuba itself faced.

The exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to explore these facets of Fidel’s character through moving photos and a short documentary.

The “FIDEL” photo exhibition will be open at the National Library in this capital until August 22.
