Official sources pointed out that, after meeting at Planalto Palace, the seat of the Executive Branch in this capital, both leaders will head to the Itamaraty Palace, the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry, for lunch.
The meeting was scheduled even before the tariff increase imposed by US President Donald Trump, but the tariff is expected to be discussed on the agenda, about which Ecuador is also facing war tariffs from Washington, but at a lower rate.
The two nations exchanged more than 1 billion dollars in 2024 and are seeking to maintain their good trade ties.
Beyond this issue, the meeting between Lula and Noboa should serve as an opportunity for Brazil to strengthen ties in the environment, sustainable development, and regional integration.
Noboa will also meet in this capital with Hugo Motta, President of the Chamber of Deputies.
