Gustavo Avila, a spokesperson of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), affirmed that the state body will make logistical adjustments and send a new budget request to the Executive.
He clarified that the polling stations and the number of voting booths will remain unchanged.
Regarding the organization of the October 19 vote, Avila explained that the TSE began new operational planning this Monday.
The TSE launched on Sunday’s elections the Preliminary Results Transmission System (SIREPRE), a tool that allowed for disseminating the preliminary election results. Tarija’s senator and former mayor, Rodrigo Paz, and former President Jorge Tuto Quiroga will face a runoff on October 19 after being the two candidates with the most votes in the first round.
SIREPRE informed that Paz, of the Partido Democrata Cristiano (PDC)Christian Democratic Party-CDP, got first, with 91.25 percent of the votes counted, with 32.08 percent, while Quiroga, of the Alianza Libre (Free Alliance) party, was second with 26.24 percent.
