Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning noted that the two nations are inseparable neighbors and after 33 years of establishing diplomatic ties, they have shown rapid and sustained development in all areas.
Mao affirmed, “A healthy, stable, and constantly deepening China-South Korea relationship serves the fundamental interests of both peoples and is also conducive to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.”
The spokesperson indicated that China is willing to work alongside South Korea to maintain the original spirit of establishing diplomatic relations, promoting good-neighborly and friendly relations, and advancing cooperation based on mutual benefit.
Beijing has repeatedly expressed its interest in consolidating constructive relations with neighboring countries based on cooperation, stability, and mutual respect.
In the case of South Korea, both sides will celebrate on August 24 the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations, which have experienced changes due in part to differences regarding security issues, diverging international alliances, and a history of confrontation.
