According to the website of Syria TV, an official statement released by the Coordination and Communications Office of the Ministry’s Media Department refuted any news related to a pact between the two countries.
The portal “Independent Arabia” cited high-ranking Syrian sources who assured that the agreement, sponsored by the United States, would be signed during the visit to New York of the transitional Syrian president, Ahmad Al-Shara, who is supposed to deliver a speech on September 24 at the UN General Assembly, before the signature agreed for the next day.
For his part, the director of the Department of American Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qutaiba Idlibi, clarified that no meeting is planned between al-Shara and the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, in the North American city during the 80th session of the General Assembly, whose high-level debate will run from September 23 to 27.
