After being arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigation Department, the former president became the highest-profile leader investigated for corruption under President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. According to the local press, a dozen political leaders of the former Executive and former senior government officials have been arrested and are under investigation for alleged corruption and malpractices.
