The test was conducted on Saturday under the supervision of General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and Chairman of the State Affairs Committee, Kim Jong Un, an official statement said.

The firings demonstrated the system’s rapid and efficient combat response against drones, cruise missiles, and other aerial targets, and that its mode of operation and reaction is based on an original and special technique.

Above all, he noted, the fact that the technical characteristics of these missiles are well suited to the destruction of various aerial targets was recognized.

On the occasion, the Supreme Commander of the People’s Army also issued instructions on the tasks to be carried out by the defense science research branch on the eve of the WPK Congress.

The tests of the new anti-aircraft missiles coincided with the annual Ulchi Freedom Shield military exercises, which the United States and South Korea have been conducting in the area for a month since last 18th.

The DPRK Armed Forces have warned that they will respond to these maneuvers with a counterattack posture. Rigorous and decisive, they will strictly exercise their sovereign right to self-defense in the event of any provocation that crosses the border line.
