The most important cultural event in the region, Carifesta, will be the scene this Sunday of a conversation on Cuba’s relationship with the rest of the Caribbean.

Under the title “Talking about Cuba and Fidel” the event, according to the organizers, will be an opportunity to collectively reflect on the island as a political, artistic and ideological reference.

The meeting, open to the public and free of charge, will be held in an emblematic theater in Bridgetown; and describes Cuba as the nation that occupies a singular space in the Caribbean imaginary.

The Barbadian hosts assure that the island is fundamental to “understand the Caribbean civilization”, so the forum will address the history, the Revolution led by Fidel Castro, its political resistance and its cultural contribution, from music and dance to literature and plastic arts.

The call for the debate is framed in the spirit of fostering intellectual dialogue along with artistic manifestations and announces a panel of historians, sociologists, writers and artists from various Caribbean countries, including Cuban poet Nancy Morejon, specially invited to Carifesta.

Bridgetown, 24 ago (Prensa Latina) Destacados académicos y artistas caribeños analizarán el papel de Cuba en la región como parte del programa del Carifesta en Barbados, anunció hoy el Comité Organizador.

Cuerpo : El evento cultural más importante de la región, Carifesta, será escenario este domingo de un conversatorio sobre la relación de Cuba con el resto del Caribe.

Bajo el título “Hablando de Cuba y de Fidel” el evento, según los organizadores, será una oportunidad para reflexionar colectivamente sobre la isla como referente político, artístico e ideológico.

El encuentro, abierto a todo el público y de carácter gratuito, se llevará a cabo en un emblemático teatro de Bridgetown; y describe a Cuba como la nación que ocupa un espacio singular en el imaginario caribeño.

Los anfitriones barbadenses aseguran que la isla es fundamental para “comprender la civilización caribeña”, por lo que él foro abordará la historia, la Revolución liderada por Fidel Castro, su resistencia política y su contribución cultural, desde la música y la danza hasta la literatura y las artes plásticas.

La convocatoria al debate se enmarca en el espíritu de fomentar el diálogo intelectual junto con las manifestaciones artísticas y anuncia un panel de historiadores, sociólogos, escritores y artistas de diversos países del Caribe, incluida la poetisa cubana Nancy Morejon, especialmente invitada al Carifesta.
