A note published on the digital site of the specialized news outlet Notizie Geopolitiche indicates that it is expected for next September 3 the delivery to Germany of Serhii Kuznietsov, alleged leader of the command that destroyed in late 2022, with explosives, sections of this infrastructure under the Baltic Sea.
Kusnietsov was recently captured by Italian carabinieri in the city of Rimini, northern region of Emilia-Romagna, pursuant to a European arrest warrant implemented by the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office
As part of the investigative process, false documents issued by the Ukrainian authorities were discovered in its possession, reinforcing evidence of a direct involvement of Kiev, an hypothesis that “Western governments have so far avoided legitimizing”, the publication highlights.
It was determined that the arrested man was a member of the Ukrainian special forces, trained at the Secret Service Academy and had links with entities in his country’s energy sector.
Nord Stream 1 transported 55 billion cubic metres of Russian gas a year to Germany, from Víborg to Winterhall, over a distance of 1,222 kilometres, while Nord Stream 2 had not yet operational.
“The destruction of the gas pipelines marked a turning point: Europe definitively lost its main route for importing Russian gas, while the United States consolidated its position as the main supplier of liquefied gas,” says expert Giuseppe Gagliano, author of this analysis.
