The humanitarian situation in the coastal enclave is “extremely complex and catastrophic in every sense of the word, especially given the ongoing massacres and the severe shortage of medical supplies and equipment,” Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson of the Palestinian Civil Defense, said in a statement to Safa.
Basal affirmed that an attack on the territory’s leading city will lead to the total collapse of the healthcare system in the northern region.
The spokesperson emphasized that the occupation of Gaza and the disruption to the healthcare sector mean that we will face a clear problem, a catastrophic reality, and the threat of death for nearly a million citizens, whether from airstrikes, hunger, or due to psychological pressure.
He denounced the systematic airstrikes this month on the neighborhoods of Zeitoun, Sabra, Jabal al-Balad, and al-Nazla, which he considered “they are clear signs of the beginning of the military operation in Gaza City.”
Following the approval of a plan by the Israeli security cabinet, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the reoccupation of the city as part of a broader project to control the entire Strip and put pressure on the Islamic Resistance Movement to accept his conditions.
