The Irish Foreign Minister asserted that, within the framework of a review of the association agreement with Israel, the bloc could impose sanctions in 10 different areas.
Israel is not fulfilling its human rights obligations, the minister stated upon his arrival at the informal meeting of EU foreign and defense ministers in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Harris indicated that during the meeting he will discuss possible restrictions with his European counterparts and specified that the objective is to achieve a ceasefire and guarantee humanitarian aid.
He added that the return of the hostages held by the Palestinian Hamas movement is also being pursued.
For the Foreign Minister, it is time for the EU to back up its words with actions.
Analysts believe these statements reflect growing pressure within the European bloc to take a tougher stance.
