The day before, Panama learned that the guided-missile ship USS Lake Erie entered the Pacific Ocean bound for the Caribbean, after docking in the port of Balboa.

The arrival of the guided-missile ship coincided with a visit to Panama by Republican US Senator Ted Cruz, who referred to the strategic importance of the Canal and Chinese influence in the area, something local authorities have repeatedly denied.

The Lake Erie is a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser equipped with a Mark 41 vertical launch system for launching Tomahawk and SM-2 missiles, two five-inch guns, two Harpoon missile launchers, two Close-in-Weapons Systems (CIWS) cannons, and two torpedo tubes.

In this regard, the Bayano collective of La Vanguardia Torrijista highlighted Venezuela’s example in the face of recent threats from the United States.

In a statement, the social group expressed its support for President Nicolas Maduro and the Venezuelan people in the face of the attacks launched by Washington.

The group stated in its message that neither Maduro nor the Venezuelan people are alone in the fight against the American empire.
