The Russian head of State, in his speech at Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the Chinese city of Tianjin, noted that the organization contributes tangibly to strengthening the climate of cooperation and mutual trust throughout Eurasia, laying the foundations for a new system of stability, security, and peaceful development.
“A system that replaces the obsolete Eurocentric and Euro-Atlantic models and takes into account the interests of as many countries as possible would be truly balanced. And, therefore, it would not allow some states to try to guarantee their security at the expense of the security of others,” the president emphasized.
Putin also added that the SCO is constantly increasing its influence in solving urgent international problems and is acting as a powerful engine for global development processes and the establishment of genuine multilateralism.
The Russian leader later stated that his country supports China’s initiative to create a new, more effective system of global governance. At the same time, Moscow intends to advance the discussion of specific and detailed proposals.
Putin remembered that, since its creation in 2001, the SCO has actively participated in efforts to create an environment of peace, security, trust, and cooperation on the Eurasian continent.
