Most returned from the neighboring country individually, and the number is increasing rapidly, the official said in statements reported by Syrian media.
She added that most of the returnees are heading to the provinces of Hama and Homs, in the center of the country, as well as Aleppo, in the north.
In this regard, Clements explained that UNHCR has launched a support plan that includes basic home repairs, financial assistance, coverage of immediate needs, and distribution of essential relief items.
In previous statements to the official Syrian news agency SANA, Clements confirmed that in the last ten months, around 850,000 Syrians have returned to their homeland from abroad, in addition to 1.7 million internally displaced persons who have returned to their homes in other areas within the country.
