In a telephone exchange with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the Indian head of government reiterated New Delhi’s position of the South Asian nation’s firm support for dialogue and diplomacy to end the war in Ukraine.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MAE) noted in a statement that the parties also discussed strengthening the India-EU Strategic Partnership in trade, security, and global stability.

India and the EU share a strong and close relationship based on trust, shared values, and a common vision for the future, the official source emphasized.

During the conversation, the senior officials emphasized the role of the India-EU Strategic Partnership in jointly addressing global issues, fostering stability, and promoting a rules-based order for mutual prosperity, according to the MEA.

They also welcomed the progress in bilateral relations in key sectors such as trade, technology, investment, innovation, sustainability, defense, security, and supply chain resilience.
