The Dominican authorities consider that this migratory flow responds to the control and interdiction measures applied by the Government, under the mandate of President Luis Abinader to guarantee an orderly migration.
The monthly detail of voluntary departures reflects a progressive increase: January (14,749), February (9,643), March (12,322), April (12,245), May (13,477), June (15,17), July (17,852) and August (20,586).
The institution explained that it facilitates and supervises these returns with respect and explained that it is a mechanism independent from forced repatriations.
The DGM remembered that all actions are part of Bill Law 285-04 and the provisions of the National Defense and Security Council, which seek to protect Dominican sovereignty.
The agency warned that it will maintain the strict application of migratory measures.
More than 1,000 Haitians are repatriated every day since the government strengthened operations in April of this year, according to DGM press releases.
