On the eve, members of this armed group associated with IS attacked Fotodu and Avey in Beni territory, killing 18 people, mainly farmers, who were killed with knives and firearms, according to the Ministry of Communications.
The local civil society president, Kinos Katuo, told Actualité.CD that it looked like the same group that attacked the city of Oicha last month and urged security forces to carry out a military operation to eliminate the ADF threat once and for all.
The death toll of this attack is added to that of the incursion carried out on the night of September 8 and 9, when the armed group attacked Ntoyo, in the territory of Lubero, killing more than 70 people and abducting almost a hundred, so it is feared that the death toll will be higher.
The Congolese Prime Minister, Judith Suminwa, issued a statement on Wednesday in which she expressed condolences to the families of the victims and made a solemn appeal for national cohesion and solidarity with the affected populations.
She assured that the Government would guarantee security, prosecute those responsible and build a peaceful and prosperous future for all the Congolese people.
