During a joint press conference, Al-Shaibani emphasized that the bilateral relationship will be “many-sided and will move forward significantly,” especially in the context of the lifting of restrictions previously imposed against Syria.
The Syrian foreign minister said that with the progressive lifting of sanctions and obstacles, Syria seeks to establish tangible alliances with international partners to support its national reconstruction process, in which the Croatian experience represents a benchmark.
Croatia has managed to rebuild itself with its own capabilities, and we can do so too, the minister affirmed, who also denounced the continued Israeli attacks against Syrian territory and, recently, against Qatar, calling them flagrant violations of international law that threaten regional stability.
The international silence in the face of these attacks must end, he expressed, while urging multilateral organizations to hold Israel accountable.
For his part, Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman expressed his satisfaction with visiting Damascus and expressed his full solidarity with the Syrian people for the years of suffering caused by the war and the blockade.
Radman stated that his country supports its comprehensive recovery and welcomes the lifting of sanctions as an essential step in the reconstruction of Syria.
He also announced that both parties have agreed to form bilateral business delegations to explore new areas of cooperation, especially in the economic and energy sectors, and that besides the willingness to resume joint economic activities, praised Croatia’s stance of reopening its embassy in Damascus.
