On the second day of the political-cultural festival held in the Paris Region, Cuba Linda organized a debate at its booth on Washington’s aggressiveness toward the island, its intensification, and the scenario of even greater hostility with Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
Representatives of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba at the Fête de l’Humanite, Juan Miguel Garcia and Katia Aruca, and Cuban ambassador Otto Vaillant, shared with the large audience the reality of the Caribbean nation under the blockade, a policy implemented for more than 60 years.
In their words, they highlighted the importance of international solidarity in revealing the truth about Cuba in the face of the manipulation and disinformation campaigns they denounced.
The president of France-Cuba, Fabrice Leclerc, introduced the topic of the extraterritoriality of the US blockade and its role in the policy of suffocation against the Caribbean island, which includes measures revived by the Trump administration, such as its inclusion on the unilateral list of state sponsors of terrorism, which has a severe impact on the financial sector.
Leclerc, that considered joint solidarity work at the European level essential and highlighted the progress made in this direction in recent years, addressed the extraterritoriality of the blockade and its impact on European banks, companies, and citizens.
For her part, Rose Marie Lou, on behalf of Cuba Linda, an association chaired by Didier Lalande, emphasized the need to raise awareness of the reality of the Caribbean country in the face of smear campaigns and to promote trips that allow people to witness firsthand the resilience and dignity of Cubans.
The associations shared concrete projects and actions to support the island in sectors as diverse as energy, tourism, health, and food.
