Bogota Concert pays tribute to victims of Palestine and Colombia

Bogota, Sep 14 (Prensa Latina) The opening concert "Presencias-Sonidos & Ecos," which will take place at Leon de Greiff Auditorium in this capital on Sunday, will be dedicated to the victims of the Palestinian genocide in Gaza and the armed conflict in Colombia.

As part of the music and historical memory program of the Cultural Heritage Department of the National University of Colombia (UNAL), the event will include Palestinian works such as “I Have No Address,” “Refugiada,” and “Estrella de la Manana,” as well as the premiere of a piece by Colombian composer Juan Forero.

The university informed that the performance will be led by the Women’s Philharmonic Orchestra, the first of its kind in the country, and instrumentalists from the UNAL Conservatory of Music.

The Chaminade Foundation Children’s Choir, the Athrodeel duet, comprising Ahmad Diab and Aseel Massoud, and pianist Moises Bertran will also participate in the recital. Brazilian maestro Larissa Macedo will conduct it.

“Presencias-Sonidos & Ecos” will be presented between 2025 and 2027, with a series of commemorative concerts that seek to highlight the power of art as a vehicle for memory and reflection.

In addition to Palestine, the concert is dedicated to the victims of the Colombian armed conflict, especially those buried at the La Escombrera site, in the northwestern department of Antioquia. That place earned the nickname of the largest mass grave in Colombia.
