Russian air defense downs 80 Ukrainian drones over 10 regions

Moscow, Sep 14 (Prensa Latina) The operational air defense systems shot down in the last day 80 Ukrainian attack drones that targeted the 10 southwestern regions, the Russian Defense Ministry informed.

The military institution announced on its official Telegram channel that 30 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down over the Bryansk region, 15 over the Peninsula of Crimea, 12 over Smolensk, 10 over Kaluga, five over Novgorod, two over the Leningrad region, three over the Sea of Azov, and one each in Oryol, Ryazan, and Rostov.

The national air transport agency, Rosaviatsia, reported that temporary restrictions have been imposed at the airports of Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod, and Pulkovo, in Saint Petersburg, in the last day to ensure passenger safety.

Leningrad Region Governor Aleksander Drozdenko reported a fire, now extinguished, caused by falling drone fragments at the Kinef oil refinery in Kirishi municipality, and the derailment of a locomotive carrying 15 empty tankers due to an alleged act of sabotage in Luga municipality.

Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, to protect the population from “the Kiev government’s genocide” and counter national security risks, according to President Vladimir Putin.
