The Israeli government practices systematic ecocide through shelling and attacks, which have destroyed the infrastructure of Strip and caused the emission of greenhouse gases and the pollution of soil, air, and water, the agency affirmed in a statement marking Tuesday’s International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
The environmental institution also criticized the collapse of the water and sewage systems, as well as the spread of hazardous waste in the Palestinian territory due to the war that began more than 23 months ago.
It also criticized the policies of confiscation, the expansion of settlements, and the emissions from settlement factories in the West Bank, which exceed six million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year.
The EQA stated that despite that campaign of destruction, Palestine continues its moral and national commitment to protecting the environment.
