San Sebastian: Celebrities, without forgetting Palestine

Madrid, Sep 19 (Prensa Latina) Tonight's opening of the 73rd San Sebastian Film Festival will offer an exceptional opportunity to see luminaries of the seventh art, without forgetting Palestine.

Zinemaldia’s latest signing is Angelina Jolie (Oscar winner for Girl, Interrupted), who will visit San Sebastian for the first time alongside Louis Garrel and Garance Marillier to attend the presentation of Couture, Alice Winocour’s film included in the Official Competition this Sunday.

Within a lineup of more than 250 films and series from 56 countries, Couture tells a story set during Paris Fashion Week, when the paths of three women intersect in the French capital.

In addition to the highly anticipated appearance of Jennifer Lawrence, who will receive the Donostia Award for her outstanding career, the red carpet is set for other stars such as French actress Juliette Binoche, in her directorial debut (In-I in Motion); Matt Dillon, who arrives with Claire Denis’s The Fence; and Paul Dano, Harris Dickinson, and Maria de Medeiros.

Behind the scenes, it’s already known that there will be an intense and sad moment, with the premiere of Hind’s Voice, accompanied by performers Saja Kilani and Motaz Malhees, in a chilling account of the death of a six-year-old Palestinian girl in an Israeli attack, featuring actual recordings of her phone calls.

Winner of the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the recent Venice Film Festival, it will once again highlight the tragedy in Gaza, where more than 65,000 people, including some 20,000 children, have been killed at the hands of the Israeli army.

Likewise, the Latin Horizons section will feature the world premiere of *Liqueur*, by Dominga Sotomayor, which will open with works by Ana Cristina Barragan, Diego Cespedes, Fernando Eimbcke, Maria Clara Escobar, Marcelo Gomes, Ivan Fund, Daniel Hendler, Nayra Ilic Garcia, Cecilia Kang, Lucrecia Martel, Simon Mesa Soto, and Nicolas Pereda.
