Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun made these remarks during his speech at the official opening ceremony of the 12th Xiangshan Forum, held at the Beijing International Conference Center.

Dong also underscored that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will not allow any plan for Taiwan independence and is prepared to thwart any external military interference.

The minister expressed China’s willingness to work with all peace-loving forces to defend the achievements of victory in World War II and the post-war international order.

Under the theme “Upholding International Order and Promoting Peaceful Development,” delegates from more than 100 countries, regions, and international organizations are attending the forum.

To date, the event has been attended by more than 1,800 participants, including more than 40 ministerial-level representatives, defense chiefs, and senior officials from the United Nations and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The event includes four plenary sessions and eight parallel meetings to discuss global security governance, strategic confidence in the Asia-Pacific, and the evolving nature of warfare, among other issues.

First held in 2006, the Xiangshan Forum has become a high-level dialogue platform on defense and security matters with significant influence in the Asia-Pacific region.
