The humanitarian social organization stated this in one of the posts published on its Facebook profile, updating on the progress of the initiative, which had received more than 2,041,000 contributions as of Wednesday, totaling approximately 424 billion dong (more than 16.6 million dollars).

“Each issue is a token of love sent to a distant friend,” wrote the Vietnamese Red Cross Society, which also highlighted the international reach of the campaign, which takes place in the context of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year and the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Among the most recent news released by the organization is the participation of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Operations’ Level 2, Number 6, Field Hospital that currently provides service in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), as well as the Police in the Lang Son province.

The organization stated that every contribution, no matter how small it is, is seen as a noble and beautiful gesture that expresses warm affection and gives strength to the Cuban people, a traditional friend of Vietnam.

Intending to raise 65 billion dong (2.47 million dollars), the campaign began on August 13, commemorating Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro’s 99th birthday.

However, it reached the initially proposed goal just 30 hours after its launch.
