Almost a month and a half after its launch, the total amount raised has surpassed 431.612 billion dong (more than 16,341,000 dollars, according to the daily exchange rate), a figure that is six times the initial goal.
“Each issue is a token of love sent to a distant friend,” the humanitarian social organization wrote on its Facebook profile, and underscored that every contribution, no matter how small it is, is seen as a noble and beautiful gesture that expresses warm affection and gives strength to the Cuban people, a traditional friend of this nation.
Among the most recent developments regarding the campaign spreading on social media is the participation of Quang Tri Province, which, as of 17:30 hours (local time) on Tuesday, had raised more than 13.724 billion VND (approximately 520,000 dollars), the country’s highest amount received through local channels.
The campaign was launched on August 13, commemorating Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro’s 99th birthday, and in the context of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year and the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Intended to raise 65 billion VND (approximately 2.4 million dollars), it reached the initially proposed goal just 30 hours after its launch.
