The Teatro Nacional de Cuba’s Covarrubias Hall hosts the Moments of Bolero Gala tonight, with musicians such as Raquel Hernandez, Emilia Morales, and Hector Tellez, among other artists.
The Añorado Encuentro space, featuring musicians who sing boleros from Cuba, Venezuela, and Argentina, takes place at the Cultural Center at Plaza de la Revolucion municipality.
The BuleBar 66 cultural center invites lovers of the genre to recall Benny More and La Sonora Matancera.
The Boleros de Oro International Colloquium, dedicated to the 95th birthday of Omara Portuondo and the 75th anniversary of Cuban Television, is held at the National Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC)’s Villena Hall.
Participants debate about bolero clubs as a sociocultural practice, the figure of the bearer in the community practice of the genre, and the bolero in vinyl records.
Also included is the “Behind the Cover in Bolero Time” section, with record launches and a demonstration class.
Artists from Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, and Argentina are participating in the festival until Sunday and pay tribute to essential figures such as Manuel Corona, Ernesto Lecuona, Barbarito Diez, Paulina Alvarez, Moraima Secada, and Adolfo Guzman.
