According to a press release from the Foreign Ministry, in its capacity as pro tempore president of the regional bloc, Colombia will seek to bring to the meeting a unified Latin American and Caribbean voice that will allow it to influence the major global transformations while promoting a shared agenda with the European association in key areas.

“More than a bi-regional meeting, the IV Summit represents an opportunity to strengthen integration, boost sustainable development and project – a common voice on the global stage,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The entity defined the meeting as a historic space of high political and diplomatic level, where the countries of Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe converge to renew commitments on the Triple Transition (energy, digital and environmental), health self-sufficiency and equitable access to medicines.

He also noted that the talks will also address sustainable agriculture and food security, gender equity, as well as the rights of Afro-descendant and indigenous populations, among other topics.
