Moscow, Oct 7(Prensa Latina) During his visit to Tajikistan, Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the second Russia-Central Asia and Community of Independent States (CIS) summits, presidential advisor Yuri Ushakov announced today.

On October 8, the Russian leader will arrive in the Republic of Tajikistan on a state visit, in response to the invitation of his prime minister, Emomali Rakhmon, said Ushakov.

The second Russia-Central Asia summit will be held in Dushanbe the next day, with the participation of the Russian head of state of Russia and his counterparts from the five nations of the region: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

On October 10, Putin will participate in the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, added Ushakov.

During his visit Putin also plans to meet with leaders of those countries, some of which are already agreed, he specified.

After completing his work agenda in Tajikistan, Putin also plans to meet with representatives of the media. The first Russia-Central Asia summit took place in Astana, the Kazakh capital, in 2022.

On that occasion, the Presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation between Russia and the Central Asian States in a number of areas.

Meanwhile, the CIS, founded in 1991 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, includes Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Georgia left the agency in 2009; Ukraine and Turkmenistan remain legally party to numerous EU agreements.
