Local television reported that several prominent figures will join the meetings this Wednesday, which are taking place in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh, in the northeastern Sinai Peninsula.
Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, and Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer are among those figures.
Jared Kushner, US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law; and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff are also in the list.
According to several regional media outlets, such as Egyptian television station Al Qahera, the initial contacts took place in a positive atmosphere.
The talks are based on a plan presented by Trump, criticized by Hamas, which nevertheless agreed to hold talks to end the Israeli aggression.
Sources from the Islamist group revealed to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that during the first round, a roadmap was drawn up to determine the timeline for the negotiations, with the participation of Egypt, Qatar, Turkiye, and the United States.
