The spokesperson stated that Lai “reverses the truth and spreads falsehoods,” while accusing him of exaggerating the “mainland threat” to justify increased defense spending on the island.

He also criticized the Taiwanese leader for promoting “independence by force” and misleading the Taiwanese people and international public opinion.

He noted that Lai, in his administration of just over a year, has persisted in positions that heighten confrontation and tense the situation across the Strait.

Chen stated that policies of “external support” and dependence on external forces harm Taiwan’s economic and social interests.

He emphasized that the island is part of Chinese territory and that national reunification is an unalterable goal.

In this regard, he affirmed that Beijing has the will, determination, and capability to thwart separatist actions and to protect the sovereignty and security of the Taiwanese people.
