The first facility visited was the “Nguyen Van Troi” Sand Production Plant in the municipality of Chambas, belonging to the Construction Materials Company (Avilmat), where he learned about the operation of the facility and the destination of its production, which directly benefits local development programs and the installation of photovoltaic parks in the province.

Accompanied by Roberto Morales, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, and the main leaders of the region, Diaz-Canel met with the unit’s workers and recognized everyone’s efforts in carrying out this important task for the country’s economy.

He also visited El Tesoro farm, where he spoke with producer Alexey Marrero, one of the most prominent rice growers in this province, and learned about the efforts being undertaken in Ciego de Avila to fulfill the plan to plant 6,000 hectares of rice for local consumption.
