With renewed patriotic fervor, the members of the National Coordinator of Solidarity with Cuba in the isthmus also reaffirmed their rejection of the island’s inclusion on a spurious and unilateral list of nations supposedly sponsoring terrorism.
During the event, this group also delivered a letter addressed to Foreign Minister Javier Martinez-Acha, requesting that the Central American nation add its vote in favor of this just cause during the October 28 and 29 United Nations vote on a resolution demanding an end to the blockade.
The message points out that, due to the blockade, Cuba is forced to develop its scientific potential and solidarity with other countries under difficult conditions.
The United States imposes measures even on third countries and multinational companies to stifle the Cuban economy and subdue its will, the document emphasizes.
Considering the important role Cuba played in the Panamanian people’s struggle for the recovery of their sovereignty, we trust that Panama will maintain its historic position of support for the General Assembly resolution, the message adds.
Panama’s position must transcend any geopolitical debate, go beyond ideological differences or government positions, and is rooted in the very essence of the historic relations of solidarity and brotherhood with the brotherly Cuban people and their government, the letter states.
