Official sources informed that the two-day event was convened by the Bolivarian Government and the Ministry of Ecosocialism and will host more than 250 delegates, including experts, scientists, and social movements from 62 countries.
Ecosocialism Minister Ricardo Molina told local television that about 2,400 national spokespersons from the Ecosocialism Councils of the Communal Self-Government Chambers and eco-socialist socialist movements are attending this event for the first time.
The latter are part of the new structure that the administration of President Nicolas Maduro is promoting to empower People’s Power.
Among the main issues for debate will be the Rights of Mother Earth, the climate crisis and the prevailing socioeconomic model, biodiversity at risk, socio-environmental conflicts and human rights, pollution and waste, and a sustainable economy.
Organizers stated that the development of this meeting marks great importance because it will serve as a preparation and a platform for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), to be held in Belem, Brazil, on November 10-21.
Maduro expressed that Venezuela is attending this event with a large delegation to present the experience of the Great Mother Earth Mission and the historic Tree Mission.
