The document denounces Washington’s intimidating and deceptive pressure on several countries, especially those in Latin America and Europe, to change their position of support for the Cuban resolution, the Caribbean country’s ambassador in Baku, Carlos Valdes, told Prensa Latina.
The Azerbaijani friends’ document also emphasizes that the blockade is the main cause of the country’s economic problems and the main obstacle to Cuba’s development.
They also demand and express their outright rejection of the inclusion of Cuba on the list unilaterally drawn up by the United States, which selectively classifies the Republic of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism.
Including Cuba on this list again violates the principles of the United Nations Charter, causing serious violations of human rights and the well-being of the Cuban population. Cuba does not sponsor terrorism, but has been a victim of this scourge throughout its history. What is happening is unjust and immoral, the text adds.
The Association once again demands an end to the genocidal blockade against the Island of Liberty and is certain that the Cuban resolution will prevail with an overwhelming majority in the UN General Assembly and will be a great victory for Cuba and all the peoples of the world, concludes the message from the Azerbaijan-Cuba Friendship Association.
