Community representatives, tradition bearers, and all those who promote and safeguard traditional popular culture are invited to the event, the institution pointed out in a press release.

Founded 32 years ago, the Living Memory Award acknowledges individuals, families, and groups that, from their community spaces and without professional standing, contribute to the preservation and transmission of traditional knowledge, practices, and expressions that enrich popular culture and the cultural identity of the Cuban nation.

In this edition, the jury, composed of Caridad Santos and Raymalu Morales, both of the Juan Marinello Institute, and specialist Rafael Lara Gonzalez, of the National System of Cultural Centers, assessed 68 documents from 10 provinces, an expression of the country’s cultural vitality and diversity.

The award is presented in four categories: Personalities, Preservation of Traditions, Artistic Projection, and Cultural Revitalization.

It may include, exceptionally, a Special Recognition for professional experiences that demonstrate significant contributions to safeguarding intangible cultural heritage.
