El Salvador aims to close 2025 with nearly four million tourists

San Salvador, October 30 (Prensa Latina) El Salvador is on track to close 2025 with nearly four million international tourists, stated the Minister of Tourism (Mitur), Morena Valdez.

These plans will be aided by Guatemala and Honduras, which trail the United States in visitor arrivals, currently approaching 3.1 million, although significant arrivals are expected for the remainder of the year.

For example, the Autonomous Port Executive Commission (CEPA) expects more than 770,000 travelers to pass through El Salvador’s San Oscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport during the Christmas season.

The agency anticipates that 16,000 people will arrive daily at the airport in December and the first 15 days of January 2026.

Those coming from neighboring countries typically arrive by land, so it is expected that Mitur’s goal will be met. “We are being conservative with those numbers because the accumulated figures up to October 14th don’t include the peak season periods of November and December, so I think we’re going to surpass that number,” the minister pointed out.

She asserted that they expect to be “fully booked” for the first half of next month, due to activities such as surfing championships, sporting events, conference tourism, and others.
