“My deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died in the fire at a store in downtown Hermosillo,” the president expressed in a message on her social media account.
The president stated that she is in contact with the governor of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo, to offer any assistance needed, and instructed the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodriguez, to send support teams to assist the families and the injured.
The fire occurred at the Waldo’s store in the Centro neighborhood of Hermosillo on Saturday afternoon. Also in X, Durazo expressed his “most sincere solidarity, support, and closeness” to the families of the victims and referred to the instruction given to all government agencies to provide comprehensive support: medical, psychological, and social assistance.
“No one will face this pain alone,” the governor stated, noting that, from the very beginning, emergency, security, and health personnel acted with great professionalism, controlling the situation and saving lives.
Durazo said he had ordered a thorough and transparent investigation to clarify the causes of the disaster and determine the corresponding responsibilities.
