“I would like to believe that the power lines will not be targeted again, although there are no guarantees. Specific negotiations are currently underway regarding the power supply to the plant,” Ulyanov emphasized in an interview with the Sputnik news agency.
The diplomat remembered the successful restoration in October of the Dneprovskaya high-voltage line to the plant, calling the achievement a “significant step forward” in which the Secretariat of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) played a “positive role.”
On September 23, an attack by Ukrainian forces on the plant resulted in the disconnection of the 750-kilowatt Dneprovskaya external power supply line.
This was the tenth time since February 2022 that the plant had been without external power.
