Authorities confirm strength of aviation sector in Mexico

Mexico City, Nov 6 (Prensa Latina) The aviation sector in Mexico reaffirmed its strength today with a total of 90.9 million passengers transported from January to September, 2.4 percent more than in the same period of 2014, according to authorities.

Citing data from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency, Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodriguez mentioned that 47.1 million passengers traveled on domestic flights, representing a 3.3 percent increase compared to the same period a year earlier.

Regarding international flights, she specified that 43.8 million passengers were transported, 1.4 percent more than in 2014 and 21.6 percent higher than 2019 levels, reflecting the dynamism of tourism and the strengthening of the country’s air connectivity.

“Mexico has a strong, competitive, and constantly growing aviation sector, backed by the confidence of travelers, airlines, and investors. The figures confirm that our country’s connectivity is not only being maintained but is being strengthened,” he stated.

In Rodriguez’s opinion, these results demonstrate the leadership and certainty provided by the government headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, who is promoting public policies aimed at strengthening national infrastructure, connectivity, and competitiveness.

“We continue to move forward steadily, strengthening our routes, destinations, and strategic alliances, with the confidence that Mexico is and will continue to be a benchmark for tourism and aviation worldwide,” he affirmed.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), 45,038,754 international tourists arrived in this North American country in 2024, an increase of 7.4 percent compared to the previous year.
