Diplomatic challenges in Bolivia foresee several stages, FM says

La Paz, Nov 16 (Prensa Latina) Newly appointed Foreign Minister Fernando Aramayo stated in an interview with Prensa Latina that the challenges facing Bolivian diplomacy, in terms of development and economic growth, involve several stages.

“We are addressing this in stages, as President Rodrigo Paz announced: first, stabilizing the economy, addressing all development gaps, creating conditions for governance, and from there, beginning to move forward on other issues,” said the Foreign Minister, who was sworn in by the president a week ago.

During the interview with this news agency, the head of Bolivian diplomacy referred to a favorable trade agreement proposal made public just hours earlier by the British Ambassador, Richard Porter.

“We are ready to offer your government an effective and immediate unconditional trade agreement in which 92 percent of Bolivian exports will not face tariffs in the United Kingdom,” Porter stated during a state banquet held at La Paz Golf Club to commemorate the 77th birthday of King Charles III, which Prensa Latina attended. In this regard, Aramayo explained that “for us, the alliance with the United Kingdom is a key fact, because it is an ally with whom we want to increase trade, which in 2023 reached a very high amount of nearly 60 million dollars.”

He pointed out that this type of agreement is part of the idea of opening the world to Bolivia and bringing Bolivia to the world, a principle put forward by President Paz and which presents a challenge today.
