According to Lubero administrator, Colonel Alain Kiwewa, the death toll so far is 29, a provisional figure resulting from an assault that targeted both the local health center and the neighboring village.
The attack occurred on the night of November 14 and Saturday 15, and also caused significant material damage.
Some 23 victims were recorded at the health center, while another six people were killed in the adjacent village.
Kiwewa told Radio Okapi that “attacks against health centers constitute a crime against humanity” and stressed that these acts must not go unpunished.
The colonel urged the population to support the joint operations of the Congolese and Ugandan armies to counter the ADF, affiliated with the Islamic State.
